Anyone who follows me on snapchat will know that last weekend B and I went down to Brighton to surprise Poppy for her 25th birthday. The weather was set to be pretty good, and one of our friends had been kind enough to host it at hers. Our train pulled into Brighton at around 10am; wandered down to the North Laines for coffee and a quick catch-up with Mum and then headed across to our friends to start setting up the party. It was a bit of a mad rush to be honest; I’d made a cake, but the icing was too runny and just slid straight off, we had a mad hunt for string to tie up balloons in the garden – basically Pop is always the one to plan and execute most parties, she always cooks loads of amazing food and decorates the house, so the pressure was on to make sure everything looked good for the surprise. But it was really fun, We spent the morning decorating the garden; prepping the food, stringing up bunting and blowing up balloons. Although we could have done with that extra hour to finish things off, it was a lovely evening – I go home to Brighton quite a lot, but it’s always nice to have all of your friends in one place.
Sunday turned out to be absolutely boiling so after a relatively slow start and a late brunch at Mange Tout, we wandered slowly back to theirs to pick up the car and plan the rest of our day. That afternoon also happened to be Sean’s first ever Vlog – which is now up online so please head over and check it out (we’ve been wanting him to do it for so long, and it’s great to see him doing something he obviously loves – nice one buddy) With the weather being what it was and us being in Brighton, we drove out to Hove for a paddle in the sea. The beach is one of the things I love most about Brighton, yes its pebbles instead of sand, and yes it’s always really rammed, but I just find it so relaxing to just chill and look out across the ocean. It turned out to be one of those days with no wind and a really calm sea, the perfect back drop for an outfit post!
The shirt is by Daniel W Fletcher an amazingly talented friend of mine, he’s just finished working on his SS17 collection, which he unveiled last night at the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Film event as part of LCM. And then on top of that he managed to turn a few heads on Saturday with an impromptu ‘STAY’ protest outside 180 The Strand, complete with models wearing his collection, placards and flags – see GQ’s article here. I love this shirt it’s from his graduate collection (SS16); I’ve been meaning to include it in an outfit post for a while now, and it just so happened I was wearing it. This is actually the first It has a revere collar I’ve ever owned and I’m sure I’ll be buying more this summer. The bottoms are just a simple pair of slim black denim shorts from Topman, not really much to say about them other than that I wear them all the bloody time. And finally the sunglasses, they’re also from Topman.
Have a lovely week, Ta A
