I’ve been wanting to visit the Sky Garden since it opened earlier this year, I know the Walkie-Talkie building isn’t the best looking of London’s skyline, but its what’s inside that counts. Last week Pop and I planned to meet some friends in central, and took the opportunity of two weeks foresight to book tickets, and finally visit the Sky Gardens.
We went on a relatively overcast day but the 360 degree views definitely didn’t disappoint. There’s a small balcony along the front of the building, looking across the Thames to the Shard and then at the back there’s the Gherkin and the Cheese-Grater – being 35 floors truly allows for some amazing views.
The Gardens themselves are quite nice, they had some exotic plants and all that, but to be honest they weren’t quite as spectacular as I had expected – I just thought there would be more. It’s still definitely worth a trip if your planning to meet a friend, its completely free, there’s a couple of restaurants and a cocktail bar at the top, and then of course there’s the views!
It’s open from 7am to 1am and to be honest I’d quite like to go back again, but at either sunrise or sunset – could be pretty special.
