Whether it’s the work Christmas party or mulled wine and minced pies with good friends, this time of year there’s always those slightly swankier festive events to attend. Mid-week, after work socialising is always a tricky one, especially this time of year when the weathers freezing but you still want to look good. It’s not always easy to find an outfit which can be transformed by a splash of aftershave and some more product through your hair. So I’ve teamed up with Ben Sherman to bring you an outfit which isn’t too smart for the day time, but certainly snappy enough for any evening event.
I’ve been a fan of the brand for years, and so was really excited about this collaboration. Ben Sherman has been styling British men for over 5 decades with their classic buttoned up look. It was only proper that the starting point of this outfit was a white end on end long sleeve shirt, with collar buttons and mitred cuff. I always tend to go for shirts like this with a slightly smaller collar; it’s their classic mod-fit and can easily be dressed up or down, with jeans or trousers. I went for a pair of their tailored trousers on this occasion, in a desert coloured dogtooth fabric. The fit is great, and the pattern is understated with subtle blue tones running throughout. The coat is their Shearling Car Coat, the collar is detachable – perfect for when things start to warm-up in the new year. Its made from Melton Wool with a five button fastening; it’s warm but looks smart – I can’t take it off! They’ve also just released their new Made in England collection which is well worth a look. I’m currently eyeing up the Dogtooth Harrington which might have to make a sneaky last minute appearance on my Christmas list.
