It’s pretty rare to find a brand where you want to own nearly every piece of their entire collection, but for me Oliver Spencer ticks all the boxes. From the overall cut of each garment to the finer details – the seams, the fabrics and the fastenings – they seem to get everything right!
I tend to always try and dress on the smart side of casual; I’m not sure how I’ve got it into my head but for me this usually means avoiding navy and sticking to black, so I thought I would take this opportunity to prove to myself that navy can look smart. The colours and fabrics I’ve gone for should make this outfit fairly laid back, but the strong cut and tailoring of OS have kept it relatively smart.
The bag is my favourite – it’s really well made and feels pretty indestructible, and the colour and texture of the full grain leather work really well. The straps are buckled at the bottom, it’s a really good size – perfect for all your essentials – even a laptop. The cotton/wool blend fabric of the long sleeve crew is beautiful. Again OS go that extra mile with the tailoring, it’s got a really nice seam detail up the front and well shaped hem round the sides at the bottom. The cut of the buffalo jacket means it sits just above the waist and the navy cord is thick, heavy and lined.
I often avoid wearing denim because I feel sometimes it can be a bit too casual, but after trying this outfit I may start wearing it more. These jeans are a lightly mottled denim; lacking a stonewash and having a fairly straight leg cut, means they still feel smart. I’ve paired them with my G.H Bass Weejun loafers.
