I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, mine was perfect! I was working Christmas Eve, so caught the train straight down afterwards with Hammie (my hamster) in one hand and a suitcase full of presents in the other. I planned to spend Christmas with my family but couldn’t resist nipping into town (after dropping Hammie off) for a couple of drinks and a dance with friends – it was definitely a heavy one, but I somehow managed to escape a hangover on Christmas Day.
First things first we opened our gifts and then popped to the pub for a festive pint, and then back to ours for dinner. I might have eaten way too much; yes I had seconds and then yes I had far too many gammon sandwiches afterwards, but surely thats what Christmas is all about! Unfortunately my four day break came and went, and I started back at work on Tuesday. But thankfully it’s not all over quite yet, the New Year starts tomorrow and I can’t wait! I swear every year starts the same, I think through the previous twelve months and plan out what changes I can make to improve the ones to come. I always end up setting myself far too many resolutions – but always seem to give them all a go at least.
This year my main one is to start taking care of myself a bit more, as in what I put into my body and how much I exercise. This summer was the first time I had actually joined a gym and gone more than once a week; I know we all sigh when people tell us how good they feel when they go to gym and eat really great food, but I promise I felt amazing – so come the first of January I will be joining the gym, and trying to stick to Hemsley & Hemsley in the Kitchen
Then theres the rest; reducing my dairy intake (to help my skin), trying not to stress about the smallest of things, find a new design job, stop saying the word like every other sentence (a habit I think I’ve picked up from B) and to be more decisive and trust in my own opinion a bit more. Finally, this is something a best friend of mine once said to me – Don’t do something and then feel guilty about it – if your going to treat yourself or over indulge, then do it but don’t spend the rest of the day regretting it, life is for the living! On that note, have a great New Year
