I don’t like to over complicate things when it comes to how I style an outfit, I try to keep things clean cut and simple, and tend to rely on block colours to set it all off. Like most people, at least 50 percent of my wardrobe is black and white; as much as I would love to have one packed full of colour and snazzy prints, there is a reason for this. Firstly I can’t afford to do this, having black and white basics means I can get away with wearing them time and again without people noticing – which is great. And secondly its also partly down to choice, I usually wear a simple monochrome outfit and rely on one key piece and a jazzy pair of socks to style it up. I don’t like things over complicated, and I wouldn’t normally choose to use more than two block colours, and would never wear more than one pattern in a single outfit. My socks – I love pairing my socks to the rest of my outfit, or using them to contrast and brighten things up.
I found this Harrington jacket in Topman, its part of their LUX collection, being a blue grey its really easy to pair with everything – which is very important when you only own about 3 jackets – but its the shape and cut that drew me to it. I really like the dropped shoulders and the detail of the cut corners at the bottom; and then the lack of a chest pocket just makes the design even cleaner. The hat is just a plain black beanie that I picked up from Primemark for about three quid, with the addition of one of my many RSPB pin-badges – this ones a Skylark. And then finally the socks, I went for bright orange because its my favourite colour, but any electric blue canary yellow would have worked just as well, this pair are from Uniqlo.
