Autumnal Spirit – Outfit Post

Autumnal outfit - Day Of Rest

Autumnal outfit - Day Of Rest

For me Autumn is easily the best time of year – yes the days are shorter, colder and a bit wetter, but I still absolutely love it! My favourite thing to do is to go walking through the country, on one of those days when the leaves are falling from the trees, there’s no wind, clear blue skies, a warm sun but a definite chill in the air, everything just feels so fresh. With the colder weather the food becomes more heavy and comforting, roasts, puds & pies replace the light summer salads, cocktails are swapped out with mulled wine or a hearty stout. And then there’s the change in wardrobe; we get to pull back out our favourite winter coats, polish off our boots and start layering again – it’s literally the best time of the year!

And so in true Autumnal spirit I thought I would pull together an outfit post as I haven’t done one since I went to Carcassonne back in the summer. Pop helped me shoot these images last weekend when I was back home in Brighton, we were out walking Buzz with Sean & Laura – see Sean’s Vlog here – and it just seemed the perfect place to take some photos. We had a great day, we visited Stamner Park for a walk and a coffee with our friend Kat, found a rope swing (which kept us occupied for about half an hour) and then finally went back to theirs for a game of scrabble, some hot soup and crusty bread – perfect!

Anyway, now on with the outfit – this bag is from Mi-Pac (who I’ve featured on the blog once before here); I haven’t had a drawstring bag since I was at high school, but what I loved about this one was the matte rubberised material – perfect for my daily commute in the wetter months to come – and then the brass fastenings. In my opinion they are such a small detail, but elevate it from your standard, cheap drawstring bag. It’s a pretty good size, and also has an internal zipped pocket.

The White Long Sleeve Turtle Neck is from Uniqlo, I think I own about 3 or 4 different colours in this top, its a proper staple item that I keep buying year on year. Turtle necks are an easy wear, they layer pretty well and look slightly smarter than just a plain long sleeve T. The jeans are also from Uniqlo; these are actually the first pair I’ve bought in ages, I really liked the cut and the denim is a nice dark un-distressed indigo, I often find it hard to find a decent pair of jeans, that aren’t as wide as a boot leg but not super skinny either but these seemed to fit really well. The Jacket is from Topman; it’s quite light and has an elasticated drawstring around the waist, I just really liked the colour and the simple style, not too different from a classic Harrington jacket. The Apron Boots are from G.H.Bass, last years purchase but still going strong. And then finally the watch; I love this watch and featured it on my Instagram a couple of weeks ago. It’s by a relatively new Scottish brand called Kartel, this is their Hume watch; now I would normally go for something slightly more plain, usually monochrome but I fell in love with the green face and the raw, grey leather strap. They have a really nice selection of watches over on their website, all simple, clean and minimal all at relatively affordable prices.

Blending into those leaves very well, matey! Uniqlo really do the best basics don’t they. My fav thing has to be not being too hot or too cold, just right.

I love love this outfit. The bag, however, is for sure my favourite part of it. I mean, don’t get me wrong the whole look is amazing, but that bag!
